What could yoga and educating girls have in common? Well, for girls in rural parts of Africa, both can offer a chance to be more empowered, earn their own money and envision a future different from their Mothers and Grandmothers; an opportunity to practice self-care, to clear the mind and find their voice. 

This project is an exciting collaboration between young women in Rwanda and Morocco! The two organisations supporting them through access to education - Komera (Rwanda) and Education For All - EFA (Morocco) - are teaming up in a special collaboration of mutual inspiration and we would love you to join us!

The Rwandan women were trained by Souljourn Yoga's On the Ground Teacher Training as yoga teachers and will offer a week-long programme of yoga classes to the 200+ EFA girls who live in boarding houses in the High Atlas. The power of these young women coming together will have mutual benefits beyond the yoga mat, creating networks and conversations of support and sisterhood.

We are fundraising for this exciting program by hosting an online yoga class on February 14th. All the funds raised will be equally split between Komera and EFA to pursue their missions. For Komera that means providing programs focused on community development, health and education for young women in secondary school and university in Rwanda. For EFA that means running their 6 boarding houses for girls from remote mountain villages so they can access school. The funding will also purchase yoga mats and pay the yoga teachers to support their livelihood.
